Receptra Body Butter Review

We tested the 3.25 oz, 400+ mg Body Butter, the only size and concentration currently offered by Receptra.

We review CBD topicals by the quality of their hemp content, CBD concentration, product packaging, ingredients, scent and texture, value, and effectiveness.

Let’s start with the quality of the hemp extract in Receptra’s Body Butter.

info on receptra body butter

Hemp Quality

Receptra is unique in the CBD industry since they only use the hemp flower to produce their extract.

The flower is richest in cannabinoids and terpenes as compared to other parts of the plant, such as the stalk and leaves.

As a result, Receptra’s products are generally more potent than the same items from other CBD companies.

After farmers handpick the flowers, Receptra uses ethanol to extract the oil, a safe, clean method that preserves the cannabinoid and terpene content.

Receptra’s production process is high-quality, and they offer third-party lab results for customers to verify a product’s concentration and purity.

Concentration

The Body Butter contains at least 400 mg of cannabinoids per 3.25 ounces of product.

Comparing Receptra’s Body Butter with other skin care topicals, it ranks quite low on the concentration spectrum.

Most other CBD skin care products range from 100 – 250 mg/oz. Receptra’s Body Butter checks in at 123 mg/oz.

However, some products contain significantly less CBD, offering only 30 – 60 mg/oz, an amount so low that CBD may not play a role in the product’s effectiveness.

So while the Body Butter has a lower than average concentration, its CBD content is potent enough to provide noticeable benefits.

Packaging

receptra body butter

The Body Butter comes in a 4 oz white plastic jar with a white, plastic screw-top lid.

The label—which displays earthy, green and brown tones—contains suggested use information and the ingredient list.

Like with all other Receptra products, this one also comes with a green label sticker, found on the bottom of the jar for this product.

This green label contains a seven-digit number that will provide access to its certificate of analysis on Receptra’s website.

Overall, the packaging with the Body Butter is simple but professional.

Ingredients

All of the ingredients in Receptra’s Body Butter are first-class and great for the skin, but specific ones deserve some recognition.

Shea butter moisturizes skin and promotes the production of collagen, an essential protein for skin structure. These properties help reduce signs of aging, such as reducing wrinkles.

Jojoba oil is known to moisturize skin while also balancing oil levels, making it potentially effective for eczema and acne. Jojoba can also help with anti-aging and wound healing.

Grapeseed oil is another great ingredient for the skin. It moisturizes, tightens pores, and contains Vitamin E which has antioxidant properties that help reduce damage to the skin from free radicals.

Here is the ingredient list for the Body Butter:

  • Ingredients for Body Butter: Aloe Vera Juice, Shea Butter, Golden Jojoba Oil, Emulsifying Wax, Cetyl Stearyl Alcohol, Grapeseed Oil, MCT Oil Infused with Hemp Extract, Coconut Oil, Shorea Butter, Mango Butter, Beeswax, St John’s Wort Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Camphor, Tangerine Oil, Jasmine Oil, Frankincense, Lemon Oil, Ylang-Ylang, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate

Scent and Texture

The Body Butter smells like jasmine oil, which possesses a strong, but not overbearing scent.

The butter itself has a whipped texture that is creamy and easy to apply.

Also, unlike other topicals, the Body Butter did not leave our skin feeling greasy.

Value

receptra body butter

Receptra prices the Body Butter at $44.95, which costs about $0.11/mg and $13.83/oz.

Several other CBD body care products range from $0.10/mg – $0.25/mg and more, so at $0.11/mg, Receptra is well-priced in this area.

For product size, Receptra is also better than most of its competitors.

Many CBD topicals range from 1-2 ounces, while some go as high as 4 ounces or more.

Receptra offers 3.25 ounces, allowing this product to last a lot longer than standard 1-2 ounce products, saving you money in the long run.

Effectiveness

We tested the effectiveness of the Body Butter for moisturizing, blemishes, healing, irritation, and common skin conditions like acne and eczema.

Generally, we applied the butter twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. It usually lasted around three to four hours after each application.

Moisturizing

Our team loves the moisturizing ability of the Body Butter.

Some of us found it more effective than any other lotion or moisturizer we have used in the past.

The butter treated dry skin well, relieving discomfort and helping it feel moisturized for hours.

With continued use, our skin became moisturized and more supple, but it required about 3 uses daily to reach this state.

This kind of usage rate will use up the jar quickly, making it expensive to use as a daily moisturizer.

Blemishes

We tested the Body Butter on marks and scars left over from acne.

Using it twice daily, the butter seemed to help these marks fade slightly.

Healing

We also used the Body Butter on minor scratches and bug bites on our skin.

The butter seemed to speed up the healing process, as scratches and bites became noticeably less apparent hours after a single use.

Irritation

The irritation from bug bites and dry skin was immediately removed upon applying the butter.

It also seemed to help prevent future irritation at the sites of the bites.

Acne

The butter seemed to have moderate effects on acne.

Primarily, the butter reduced some of the redness and inflammation that typically occurs with acne.

However, acne appearance did not change after at least two weeks of continuous application.

Eczema

The Body Butter did a great job with eczema.

The butter eliminated itching caused by eczema for about 2-3 hours and also reduced scaliness.

Eczema began to fade after a few days of continuous application.

Conclusion

The Body Butter was a team favorite among the products we’ve tried from Receptra, and for good reason.

Receptra has an excellent process for producing a potent hemp extract, which is displayed in the butter’s ability to moisturize and promote healthy skin.

Add to that a great scent, a satisfying texture, all-natural ingredients, and a price that beats most other CBD companies, and you have a premier skin care product in the Body Butter.

With that said, we recommend Receptra’s Body Butter to everyone who wants healthier, youthful skin.
