Welcome to our CBDistillery Relief Stick review!

Having completed our standard sampling and product reviewing rituals, which include a range of assessments from pricing to product quality and more, we’ve come to a consensus on this CBD isolate topical (spoilers ahead).

Overall, we were impressed with the effectiveness of this lab-verified CBDistillery Relief Stick, and the price point is reasonable at both concentrations.

Here’s how we came to these conclusions, broken down by category.

CBDistillery Relief Stick

Concentration

500mg: 2.5oz (200mg/oz)

1,000mg: 2.5oz (400mg/oz)

Ingredients

Caprylic / Capric Triglycerides, Ozokerite, Behenyl Alcohol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Pentylene Glycol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Menthyl Lactate, Tapioca Starch, Cannabidiol, Menthyl Salicylate, Menthol, Mentha piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Tocopherol

Concentration

CBDistillery offers their CBD Relief Stick in the following concentrations:

  • 500mg/2.5oz (200mg/oz)
  • 1,000mg/2.5oz (400mg/oz)

According to the certificate of analysis provided by ACS laboratory, our product contained 8.34mg/g of CBD, or 583.8mg in total.

Since this product is made with CBD isolate and nothing else on the cannabinoid front, all other cannabinoids it was tested for were listed as below the limit of quantitation, i.e., negligibly small quantities.

We would like to see a 1,500mg and/or 2,000mg concentration at some point in the future, but the CBD is over-delivered, and the available concentrations are still fairly accommodating.

Packaging

Our CBD relief sticks arrived in matte white plastic tubes with threaded lids, all of which were housed in small boxes.

Labeling on each tube provided usage directions, ingredients, warnings, basic product info (e.g., concentration), and a QR code for accessing third-party lab reports.

The boxes featured all of this information as well as a blurb about the product’s third-party lab verification process and another about CBDistillery’s U.S. Hemp Authority certification.

The packaging made the product easy to access and use, and everything remained intact throughout our use of the CBD relief stick.

Though we were pleased to see the additional information on the box, prioritizing beginner-friendly info (how CBD works with the body, etc.) would have been even better.

Overall, CBDistillery receives high marks for packaging and labeling.

Ingredients

Here is the CBD Relief Stick ingredient list verbatim:

Caprylic / Capric Triglycerides, Ozokerite, Behenyl Alcohol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Pentylene Glycol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Menthyl Lactate, Tapioca Starch, Cannabidiol, Menthyl Salicylate, Menthol, Mentha piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Tocopherol

Especially since this is a CBD isolate product, the handful of essential oils is a welcome addition.

Everything not clearly derived directly from a natural source—ozokerite, behenyl alcohol, pentylene glycol, and capric triglyceride—has been proven safe and effective.

The above considered, this is the kind of consciously developed ingredient list we award more credit for.

Scent and Texture

As expected, the menthol and peppermint run away with it in the scent department, but not to the extent that it stings the nostrils.

Our experience with the product is an accurate reflection of the scent, since there was a bit of tingling, but not nearly as much as most over-the-counter analgesics.

The texture was on the thicker side, but not to the point that hindered absorption.

The only problem was that the product is a bit “sticky” when first applying, to the point where it pulled the skin instead of rolling across it.

However, after a few seconds of contact with the skin, this friction gave way to a much more compliant smoothness.

After applying, there was little to no residual “goop” on the skin.

The scent and texture are consistent with other industry-leading brands we’ve sampled.

Effectiveness

After two or three applications on larger joints and the lower back region, we noticed a moderate improvement in everyday aches and pains.

Like most other CBD topicals, this isn’t the product to go to for severe issues and/or acute-phase injuries, but it rivaled some of the broad-spectrum and full-spectrum topicals we’ve tried.

Where other topicals (CBD or otherwise) rely more heavily on the numbness and tingling mechanism, this product seemed to “fade away” in this regard within just a minute or two.

However, it took much of the discomfort with it; we found ourselves realizing “oh wow, my ‘x’ isn’t smarting anymore” an hour or so later.

We noticed the greatest reduction in lower back discomfort, but everyone is built differently.

Overall, we were pleased with the effectiveness of this product, and will continue to use it and recommend it to others looking for a gentle solution to mild/moderate aches and discomfort.

Pros and Cons

Let’s start with the pros:

  • Effective for everyday aches and pains
  • Doesn’t distract with intense tingling or numbness
  • Botanically enhanced ingredients list supports CBD isolate
  • Affordable

And now the cons:

  • Sticky on initial use
  • No entourage effect

About CBDistillery

Established in 2016 under parent company Balanced Health Botanicals, CBDistillery has vocally advocated against CBD gimmicks and scams since early in the CBD boom.

Moreover, they followed through with an expanding catalog of lab-verified, organic, CO2-extracted products in various types, formulations, and concentrations.

For these reasons and several others, they’re one of the very few brands who earned not only over a 90, but over 95 (96.25) on our brand ranking system.
