As usual, we’ll start today’s review of the PlusCBD™ Oil 500mg Extra Strength Formula Roll-On with the most important dynamic: hemp quality.

PlusCBD™ Oil Hemp Quality

All of PlusCBD™ Oil’s hemp is sourced by their parent company (CV Sciences) from farms in Holland.

For hemp and many other crops, Holland is very high on the spectrum of quality, thanks to their renowned agricultural standards. 

Furthermore, all the hemp is grown using non-GMO, EU-certified hemp seeds. 

Throughout the cultivation process – and naturally, after harvesting – CV Sciences conducts several rounds of testing to ensure hemp quality and safety.

The plant material is then imported to the US, where CV Sciences uses CO2 to extract the oil, which is widely regarded as the CBD industry’s gold standard for its safety and efficiency. 

After extraction, products are tested by DB Labs for cannabinoid potency and contaminants (residual solvents, heavy metals, microbes, and more.)

From sourcing to testing, every point under the umbrella of hemp quality and safety is extremely well met by CV Sciences, which is why we consider their hemp quality to be among the highest in the industry.

Concentration

The full-spectrum hemp roll-on we sampled comes in 200mg or 500mg concentrations.

As mentioned, we sampled the stronger concentration.

According to the certificate of analysis pertaining to our batch, the cannabinoid density of our 500mg product is as follows (total values):

• CBD: 539.5mg
• CBDV: 3.49mg
• Delta-9-THC: 2.23mg
• CBD: 11.21mg

Additionally, the product passed all tests for pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, and other potential contaminants.

Overall, CBD concentration is generous, supporting cannabinoid concentration is moderate, and the THC level (0.007%) falls far below the federally mandated maximum (0.3%).

Value

The 200mg version of this full-spectrum hemp roll-on retails for $27.99, which reduces to $0.14 per milligram of CBD. 

Our 500mg version currently retails for $49.99, which reduces to nearly $0.10 per milligram of CBD.

The former price point is largely unremarkable, but for a high-quality topical such as this, $0.10 or below is fairly attractive. 

It’s also helpful that customers don’t have to scale up to a 1000mg or higher product to reach this price point.

Packaging

Like most other PlusCBD oil products, the full-spectrum hemp roll-on we sampled came in a small box. 

Featured on the box are an ingredients list, a small Q&A panel, a mission statement, and a QR code allowing quick access to third-party lab reports. 

The tube housing the roll-on contains the same information (minus the Q&A) as the box it’s contained in. 

The roll-on applicator never gunked up or faltered, nor did the screw-on lid. 

Overall, the packaging was durable, easy to work with, and informative.

Ingredients

Here’s the ingredient list for the full-spectrum roll-on: 

Water, isopropyl alcohol, camphor, menthol, glycerin, aucklandia lappa extract, achyranthes bidentata extract, cinnamon extract, poria mushroom extract, licorice extract, hemp extract (aerial parts), hydrolyzed jojoba esters, ethylhexyl olivate, sodium acrylates copolymer, polyglyceryl-4 olivate, cetyl hydroxyethylcellulose, xantham gum

As expected, PlusCBD™ maintained a wide berth around harmful surfactants, parabens, phthalates, and other additives.

The ingredients list is filled with natural extracts, earning top marks from us for quality and safety. 

Scent & Texture

Though more discerning noses may be able to make out some of the natural extracts, this product’s scent is akin to any mentholated, over-the-counter topical ointment (think Bengay). 

After application, gentle massaging is recommended to encourage the slightly watery product further into the skin.

Effectiveness

More than any other CBD topical we have tried, this particular roll-on is “spicy.”

Seconds after applying, a powerful wave of cooling, tingling sensations overtakes the tissue, persisting for roughly an hour and slowly tapering down in intensity for the following hour or two. 

This effect was so strong, it made it harder for us to determine how much the CBD itself helped. 

One thing was for certain: we certainly didn’t feel pain during the first hour. 

Overall, the product was very effective for acute relief from discomfort.

Pros & Cons
