CBDistillery CBD Oil Tincture Review

Our team reviewed the 2,500 mg option of CBDistillery CBD Oil tinctures.

In order to provide as comprehensive a review as possible, we organize our comments into the following key categories:

  • Hemp quality
  • Concentration
  • Packaging
  • Ingredients
  • Taste
  • Value
  • Effectiveness

In addition to the 2500mg Maximum Strength Relief + Relax CBDistillery CBD oil, we also sampled the brand’s 1000mg Extra Strength Relief + Relax CBD oil tincture (in mango), which we’ll mention a few times as appropriate.

As usual, let’s start with a focus on the hemp extract itself.

Hemp Quality

The hemp used in this full-spectrum product and all other CBDistillery CBD oil (full-spectrum is available in 500mg, 1000mg, 2500mg, and 5000mg) comes from US-based farms that are required to pass multiple rounds of pre-harvest QA tests as well as post-harvest lab testing.

CBDistillery follows the industry’s gold standard for extraction, using CO2 to safely and efficiently remove the cannabinoids from the plant biomass.

As we’ll review more extensively below, formulated products are then sent to ACS Laboratory, where they’re tested for cannabinoid density and contaminant presence.

Even without their firmly ensconced reputation and/or overwhelmingly positive product reviews, CBDistillery checks all the boxes when it comes to hemp quality: integrity of sourcing, testing, and extraction.

Concentration

According to the Certificate of Analysis (COA) from ACS Laboratory, the 2500mg full-spectrum tincture we tested contained 91.16mg/mL of CBD, totaling 2734.77mg for our 30mL bottle.

Here’s how the remaining cannabinoids measured up:

  • CBG: 2.74mg/mL, 82.32mg total
  • Delta-9 THC: 1.92mg/mL, 57.63 total (0.191%)
  • CBC: 1.42mg/mL, 42.72 total
  • CBN: 0.218mg/mL, 6.45mg total.

CBDistillery also scores fairly well for concentration, considering they over-delivered on the CBD and kept the THC well below the legal limit of 0.3% by dry weight.

The presence of supporting cannabinoids like CBG and CBC ranks somewhere in the middle; we’ve seen more, and we’ve seen less.

For the most part, this is right where you want to see your cannabinoid levels.

Packaging

Both CBDistillery CBD oil tinctures we sampled came in the same packaging, which includes a box, paper inserts, and the 30-mL bottles with dropper lids.

As we stated in our CBDistillery review, this brand’s packaging is the most informative we’ve seen so far.

Between the box, inserts (like miniature informational pamphlets), and bottle, customers can learn about the product, the brand, the endocannabinoid system, differences between hemp extract types, and more.

Each box also contains a QR code that allows customers quick access to lab reports.

Durability and usability of packaging were consistent with all quality brands; everything was intact and the standard dropper lid was easy to use.

Overall, CBDistillery ranks extremely well for product packaging, if not at the very top.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredient lists for both products we sampled:

Relief + Relax Maximum Strength 2500mg: full-spectrum hemp extract (aerial parts), fractionated coconut oil (MCT), natural terpenes.

Relief + Relax Extra Strength 1000mg (Mango): Full-spectrum hemp extract (aerial parts), fractionated coconut oil (MCT), natural flavors, natural terpenes.

We would normally call out the lack of supporting, non-cannabinoid ingredients like L-theanine, but CBDistillery has other formulations that take advantage of these, and the supporting cannabinoid density in this product may be high enough to produce synergistic effects (i.e., the entourage effect).

Otherwise, these ingredient lists are as clean as it gets, without an artificial ingredient in sight.

Taste

Here is a matter that tends to drive a wedge through would-be CBD consumers; not everyone is into the natural hemp taste.

As CBD veterans who don’t mind it at all, we found the 2500mg CBDistillery CBD oil to taste just as good, if not better, than other brands we’ve tried.

Hemp is naturally bitter, as was this extract, but it tasted fine.

The 1000mg tincture we sampled in mango was not effective at covering the hemp taste, but the flavor itself was enjoyable.

Essentially, it was mango on the “front end,” and about two seconds after tasting, it’s all hemp from there.

Overall, both products tasted great, but those averse to the hemp taste may have a little trouble.

Value

The Relief + Relax Maximum Strength 2500mg tincture currently retails for $130, which translates to just over $0.05/mg of CBD.

The 1000mg version of the same formulation is priced at $60, or $0.06/mg.

Both of these are highly competitive price points, and we were surprised at how little the per-milligram price increases for cutting the concentration down by 60%.

This lean pricing strategy makes it much easier for beginners to try smaller quantities without spending too much, while also allowing great savings for bulk purchasers.

The overall quality of the hemp and the brand’s reputation make these prices even more appealing.

Effectiveness

After a steady ritual of taking these tinctures once in the morning and once in the afternoon (between 125mg-150mg total), we noticed moderate to significant improvements in just about every category called out in the research.

These CBDistillery CBD oil tinctures seemed to help equally with aches, discomfort, stress, and mood, making it easier to concentrate on what we were doing without feeling sluggish.

On a couple occasions, we took the afternoon dose later in the evening, which made falling asleep easier.

Though coffee will probably always hold the mantle for the best pick-me-up, these tinctures weren’t that far behind in their ability to improve energy when taken in the morning.

We felt more positive, calm, and prepared to take on the task load for each day.

There was also a discernible difference in mental fatigue after long workdays; we didn’t feel as “fried” after using these products throughout the day.

Finally, post-workout muscle soreness and fatigue were significantly ameliorated by these tinctures.

Pros and Cons

Let’s start with the pros:

  • High-quality, completely natural extracts/ingredients
  • Very affordable for the quality
  • Highly informative labeling
  • Effective formulations
  • Concentrations as high as 5000mg available

And now the cons:

  • Hemp taste
