CBDistillery offers two CBD topicals, CBDol and CBDefine. Our team decided to try and review CBDol, a topical designed to provide relief and help skin. In both areas, we found CBDol did its job and did it well. We found it helpful with sore muscles, and blemishes like scratches or bruises. That efficacy is attributable to the product’s 500 mg of cannabinoids, a high concentration for CBD topicals, and an assortment of premium, all-natural ingredients. While the product is a little pricey, our team believes it’s well worth it.

CBDistillery CBDol Topical Review
We tried the 1 oz, 500 mg CBDol CBD Topical, which is currently the only size offered by CBDistillery.
We review CBD topicals by the quality of their hemp content, CBD concentration, product packaging, ingredients, scent and texture, value, and effectiveness.
Let’s start with the quality of the hemp extract in CBDistillery’s CBDol Topical.

CBDistillery ensures the hemp they use is clean and safe by conducting five quality control tests during the life of their hemp plants.
The company then uses CO2 or ethanol—both of which are clean and safe methods—to extract the cannabinoid content. The solvent used depends on the product type: CO2 for full spectrum and ethanol for isolate.
For CBDol, CBDistillery uses CO2.
All products are sent to a third-party laboratory for testing. The certificates of analysis (COAs) for each batch verify the advertised potency and ensure the products pass pesticide and heavy metal screening.
COAs are available directly for customers to view on CBDistillery’s website.
“We wanted to set the standard of what transparency looks like …. For that reason, we were one of, if not the very first company to actually publish third-party test results right on our website,” said Ellese McKenney, the VP of Marketing at CBDistillery.
Customers can also scan the QR codes provided product labels to see the COA for a product’s specific batch.
The company has an ISO 9001 certification and operates according to current Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
As a full spectrum product, CBDol contains 500 mg of cannabinoids, with the vast majority consisting of CBD.
According to the COA for this product, CBD made up about 467 mg of the topical. THC and CBC made up the vast majority of the remaining cannabinoid content, pushing up the total cannabinoids to 508 mg.
At 1 oz of product, CBDol is one of the most highly concentrated topicals in comparison with similar products on the market.
Topicals for pain and skincare typically range from 100 mg – 250 mg/oz.
While it may not last as long as other topicals, CBDol has more potency and is more likely to be effective because of its cannabinoid content.
CBDol is contained in a white, plastic jar with a screw-top lid.
The label is simple, providing an ingredients list, directions, and a QR code.
The QR code worked with no issues for us.
Several ingredients complement the cannabinoids in CBDol.
While all of the ingredients offer benefits, we want to highlight just a few ingredients: tea tree, eucalyptus, and arnica.
Starting with tea tree, research shows that the oil can accelerate wound healing, treat dry and itchy skin, and may help reduce inflammation and redness in acne.
Eucalyptus is known to help with pain in the muscles and joints. Some evidence shows it can help with injuries and post-workout recovery.
Finally, arnica can help with pain, inflammation, and has an incredible ability to reduce the appearance of bruises.
Here is the full ingredient list for CBDol:
Ingredients for CBDol: Hemp Seed Oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Lavender, Peppermint, Wintergreen, Marjoram, Eucalyptus, Arnica, Basil, Camphor, Frankincense, Tea Tree, Green Tea, Lecithin, Cinnamon, Grapefruit Seed, Aloe, USD Kosher Glycerin, Magnesium, and Beeswax
Scent and Texture
Due to the peppermint and wintergreen, CBDol smells like menthol, but unlike some products with mint, this isn’t overbearing.
The texture is creamy and smooth, making it easy to spread onto target areas and leaving only a slightly greasy feel.
Take care when applying it to your face.
Since CBDol contains peppermint and wintergreen, putting the topical near your eyes could cause some burning and irritation.
CBDol retails for $60.00 at CBDistillery, which puts the topical at $0.12/mg.
Topicals usually range from $0.10 – $0.25/mg, so CBDistillery’s price per mg fits nicely on the more cost-efficient side of the scale.
However, the other side of the coin is CBDol costs $60/oz because of its small size.
Most topicals don’t break $40/oz and usually range from $15 – $35/oz, but that’s because they usually have larger product sizes and lower cannabinoid concentrations.
A decision will come down to what aspects of a product does an individual put more importance on: the longevity or the potency.
As we’ll describe below, CBDol’s effectiveness makes our team believe it’s worth the cost.
Since CBDol has the potential to have several benefits, we tested its efficacy in three categories: skin blemishes, irritation, and pain.
Our use of the product depended on what category we were targeting.
For blemishes, we applied it two to three times a day at set intervals (e.g., morning, afternoon, evening). However, with pain and irritation, we applied the topical as often as we felt was necessary.
Generally, the effects seemed to last three to four hours.
We used CBDol to help with bruises, bug bites, and scratches.
For bruises, we used the topical a couple of times per day, usually in the morning and before bed.
After one day of use, we saw the bruise slightly improve in appearance, and after applying the topical for a second day, it was nearly gone.
It took about 5 days for the bruise to completely disappear.
CBDol was comforting and soothing to the skin.
Specifically, it helped relieve irritation from turf burn and scratches on the skin.
We used CBDol to relieve discomfort from sore muscles and on the bruising mentioned above.
One member of our team had sore muscles in his upper body.
The day after exercising, he applied a generous amount of the topical on the left side of his body while leaving the other side untreated.
Upon waking the next morning, the left side of his upper body felt significantly improved in comparison with the right.
Overall, CBDistillery’s CBDol is an outstanding topical.
Although it’s slightly expensive, customers will get a product loaded with CBD and other excellent ingredients that may help provide them with relief.
We believe CBDol works and deserves your confidence, as well as our team’s recommendation.
