Need quick relief to keep you performing at your best?

CBDMEDIC’s Active Sports Pain Relief Ointment effectively relieved pain in our muscles and felt soothing on our skin.

We would not turn elsewhere for fast, temporary relief.

We also thought the Acne Treatment Medicated Cream was the best product for skin health.

CBDMEDIC Acne Treatment Medicated Cream

To the surprise of some on our team, this acne cream seemed to work.

With consistent application to the face, we saw acne and blemishes dissipate, while the skin looked and felt healthier.

CBDMEDIC has an excellent product in their Acne Treatment Medicated Cream, especially in conjunction with the face cleanser.

CBDMEDIC Review

Certain factors can make or break a CBD brand, such as how a company sources their hemp, or if the labeling matches what is inside the products.

At The CBD Insider, we measure the excellence of a brand by four primary criteria:

  • The quality of their manufacturing process
  • The value of their products
  • The quality of their ingredients
  • The efficacy of their products

CBDMEDIC Background

CBDMEDIC was owned by Abacus Health Products, Inc., a company that produced over-the-counter (OTC) topical products.

The company, including the CBDMEDIC brands and others, was acquired by Charlotte’s Web officially in June 2020.

Abacus’ CEO Perry Antelman, who is now an executive vice president and president of topicals, started CBDMEDIC because he saw a need for pain relief products.

Antelman wanted to “up the game in terms of pain relief” with 98-99% natural, synergistic ingredients, as Charlotte’s Web’s Bryce Sessel-Glassberg told The CBD Insider.

“Acquiring CBDMEDIC was right for us because of the claims we could make, especially since we’ve seen a huge demand for pain relief, eczema, and arthritis,” said Sessel-Glassberg. “It was just the right time.”

CBDMEDIC Coupon

We have a great CBDMEDIC coupon code that can be used through the Charlotte’s Web site.

As of now, readers can get 15% off their entire order with code: CBDINSIDER

What Makes CBDMEDIC Unique?

CBDMEDIC products are unique because they are OTC-registered, allowing the brand to make claims about their products.

For a product to become OTC-registered, a company must file multiple forms with the FDA.

While these products are not approved by the FDA, the agency recognizes they exist by assigning them a National Drug Code number.

CBD is listed as an inactive ingredient since it is not recognized by the FDA as having a well-known therapeutic use.

Where Does CBDMEDIC Get Their Hemp?

Charlotte’s Web supplied some of the hemp used in the CBDMEDIC products for five years before acquiring Abacus.

Now, all CBDMEDIC products will only use Charlotte’s Web hemp.

In doing so, the CBDMEDIC products will boast the strict safety standards of the largest CBD brand in the United States and consistent hemp quality.

Also, CBDMEDIC products will continue to utilize broad-spectrum hemp extract and remain THC-free.

Hemp Quality

Charlotte’s Web grows its hemp in Colorado, while also supporting family farms in Kentucky and Oregon.

The company uses organic and sustainable cultivation methods such as cover crops and ladybugs as natural pest predators, but never toxic or harmful chemicals.

Soil and irrigation systems are consistently tested to ensure the safety of an upcoming crop.

After harvesting, Charlotte’s Web uses Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) to extract the hemp oil for the brand’s original formula products, while using CO2 for the majority of its products.

Samples from every batch of products are tested by ISO-17025-accredited third-party laboratories, such as Eurofins, one of the most prestigious third-party labs in the world.

Unfortunately, Charlotte’s Web does not show the original third-party lab results—opting to provide an internally aggregated report—but the brand does mention the lab each result is from.

The samples are tested for cannabinoid potency, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbes.

Charlotte’s Web provides QR codes on all of their products so customers can access the test results for their specific item.

The US Hemp Authority has awarded Charlotte’s Web its seal of certification, and the company also has a current Good Manufacturing Practice certification.

CBDMEDIC Skin Products

Concentration

Both the Acne Treatment Medicated Cream and Eczema Therapy Medicated Ointment contain 200mg of CBD hemp oil in 1.4oz of product.

These are somewhat low concentrations of CBD, although it’s not intended to be the most prominent ingredient in these products.

That role is reserved for salicylic acid and colloidal oatmeal in the acne cream and eczema ointment, respectively.

Value

The Acne Treatment Medicated Cream costs $29.99 ($0.15/mg), while the Eczema Therapy Medicated Ointment retails for $39.99 ($0.20/mg).

While these products are not as cost-efficient in terms of price per mg, they are still reasonably priced.

A little goes a long way with these topicals, so we expect customers to get plenty of value from these products for their price.

Ingredients

Ingredients in the Acne Treatment Medicated Cream are 98% naturally derived and include:

salicylic acid, emulsifying wax, shea butter, bentonite clay, sorbic acid, jojoba seed oil, zinc oxide, 200mg CBD hemp oil (THC-free), peppermint oil, tea tree oil, stearic acid, and silver oxide.

The ingredients in the Eczema Therapy Medicated Ointment are 99% naturally derived and include: colloidal oatmeal, cottonseed oil, beeswax, 200mg hemp oil (THC-free), stearic acid (vegetable derived), sorbic acid, jojoba seed oil, peppermint oil, chamomile oil, eucalyptus oil, zinc oxide, and silver oxide.

Packaging

The cream and ointment are contained in squeeze tubes that come in boxes.

Information on the tubes include drug facts, uses, warnings, directions, a list of inactive ingredients, and an expiration date.

A batch code for the product is on the box.

Experience

The acne cream works best right after cleaning the skin.

It initially spreads easily on skin, but begins to quickly dry.

The cream has a pleasant smell and does not leave a sticky residue or leave skin feeling tight.

With continual and consistent use we found noticeable improvement in acne.

As for the eczema cream, it spreads easily on skin and feels like gel.

It also has a pleasant smell and does not like skin feeling greasy.

Unfortunately, we did not notice any improvement in eczema.

Pros & Cons

Pros for the CBDMEDIC skin products:

  • Reasonable upfront price
  • Excellent ingredients
  • Great smell and feel
  • Acne product seems to work well

Cons for the CBDMEDIC skin products:

  • Low CBD concentration
  • High price per mg
  • Eczema product showed little effectiveness

CBDMEDIC Pain Relief Products

Concentration

Both the Active Sports Pain Relief Ointment and Foot & Ankle Pain Relief Ointment contain 200mg of CBD hemp oil in 1.4oz of product.

Like the CBDMEDIC skin products above, these are low concentrations of CBD.

The main ingredients in both of these products are camphor (10%) and menthol (15%).

Value

Both products also are priced at $39.99, which comes out to $0.20/mg.

While the retail price is reasonable considering the ingredients and the fact that a little ointment goes a long way, the price per mg is high.

We’d like to see Charlotte’s Web eventually include more CBD in the CBDMEDIC products, as the brand did with their own Charlotte’s Web topicals in early 2020.

Ingredients

Ingredients in the Active Sport Pain Relief Ointment are: Menthol, camphor, cottonseed oil, beeswax, 200mg hemp oil (THC-free), frankincense oil, jojoba seed oil, myrrh oil, honeysuckle oil, and sorbic acid.

The Foot & Ankle Pain Relief Ointment contains: camphor, menthol, beeswax, 200mg CBD hemp oil (THC-free), clove oil, eucalyptus oil, jojoba seed oil, peppermint oil, tea tree oil, and sorbic acid.

Packaging

The pain relief ointments come in squeeze tubes and boxes.

Information on the tubes include drug facts, uses, warnings, directions, a list of inactive ingredients, and an expiration date.

A batch code for the product is on the box.

Experience

The Active Sport Pain Relief Ointment has a pleasant and not overbearing menthol scent.

The Foot & Ankle Pain Relief Ointment also smells like menthol, but it offers hints of clove and eucalyptus oil.

They have nearly identical textures, both rubbing on smoothly and absorbing at a moderate rate with continued massaging.

We also noticed a modest cooling sensation from both products.

Both ointments were significantly effective at temporarily relieving pain and discomfort.

Pros & Cons

Pros for the CBDMEDIC pain relief products:

  • Reasonable upfront price
  • Excellent ingredients
  • Great smell and feel
  • Both products effectively relieve pain temporarily

Cons for the CBDMEDIC pain relief products:

  • Low CBD concentration
  • High price per mg

CBDMEDIC Massage Oil
photo

Concentration

The CBDMEDIC Massage Oil contains 200mg of CBD in 3.4oz of oil.

This is a small and almost negligible amount of CBD.

We’d like to see Charlotte’s Web substantially increase the amount of CBD in the formula in the future.

Value

The massage oil costs $39.99, which clocks in at $0.20/mg.

Like all other CBDMEDIC products, the massage oil is reasonably priced, but has a high price per mg.

For 3.4oz of oil, we believe the massage oil is valued correctly.

Ingredients

Ingredients in the massage oil: menthol, camphor, jojoba seed oil, cottonseed oil, frankincense oil, 200mg CBD hemp oil (THC-free), honeysuckle oil, myrrh oil, argan oil, and coconut oil (MCT oil).

Packaging

The massage oil comes in a large bottle with a box.

Information on the label includes drug facts, uses, warnings, directions, a list of active ingredients, and on the bottom of the bottle there is a batch code and an expiration date.

Experience

The massage oil has an intense menthol scent, making it best for massaging only small areas of the body at a time.

It seemed to have some pain-relieving benefits, but they were not as noticeable as the more targeted pain relief products.

Pros & Cons

Pros for the CBDMEDIC massage oil:

  • Reasonably priced
  • Large amount of oil
  • Excellent ingredients

Cons for the CBDMEDIC massage oil:

  • Low CBD concentration
  • Scent is too intense
  • Minor benefits

All CBDMEDIC Products

CBDMEDIC’s product offerings are solely made up of CBD topicals.

All of the products are THC-free and are primarily targeted towards pain relief, while a few products are intended for skin health.

Conclusion

At The CBD Insider, we only recommend brands that we have thoroughly vetted and personally tested, so you can feel comfortable purchasing a company’s products.

CBDMEDIC is a unique, topical-only CBD brand with OTC-registered products.

What’s more is that our team noticed real, tangible benefits from most of these topicals.

Now that the brand is under the Charlotte’s Web family, we have high hopes (and expectations) for its future.

Thus, after thoroughly testing the products and analyzing their operation, we happily recommend CBDMEDIC.
