Charlotte’s Web CBD Capsules Review

We tested the 25mg, 30-count liquid capsules from Charlotte’s Web.

Charlotte’s Web also offers 60-count and 90-count versions that are increasingly more cost-efficient.

Our team reviews CBD capsules based on their quality, concentration, value, packaging, ingredients, and effectiveness.

Let’s start with how Charlotte’s Web creates their CBD oil.

Quality

Charlotte’s Web is vertically integrated and grows its own hemp in Colorado, and it also supports family farms in Kentucky and Oregon.

The company uses organic and sustainable cultivation techniques, including using cover crops and ladybugs as natural pest predators, but never toxic or harmful chemicals.

Charlotte’s Web is currently in the long process of making their hemp USDA-certified organic.

Soil and irrigation systems are consistently tested in the offseason to ensure the safety of an upcoming crop.

After harvesting, Charlotte’s Web uses Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) to extract the hemp oil for its original formula products, while using CO2 for all the other products.

In the case of these CBD capsules, the hemp extract is extracted with CO2.

Samples from every batch of products are tested by ISO-17025-accredited third-party laboratories, such as Eurofins, one of the most prestigious third-party labs in the world.

The samples are tested for cannabinoid potency, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbes.

Charlotte’s Web provides QR codes on all their products so customers can easily access third-party test results for their specific item.

The US Hemp Authority has awarded Charlotte’s Web its seal of certification.

The company also has a current Good Manufacturing Practice certification.

Concentration

The capsules contain 25mg of CBD per capsule for a total of 750mg of CBD per 30-count bottle.

According to the certificate of analysis, our capsules contained 26mg of CBD per capsule, and other minor cannabinoids were also detected.

We did notice one interesting discrepancy, however.

The label on our capsules stated that each one had 40mg of full-spectrum hemp extract (i.e., cannabinoids, plant material, fatty acids, etc.), but the certificate of analysis said there was 61mg per capsule.

While this may not have any real bearing on how this capsule affects the consumer, that is a striking 50% difference in the amount of hemp extract.

Regardless, we like the substantial CBD concentration of 25mg, which ranks as above average among CBD capsules.

Value

The 30-count, 25mg capsules cost $74.99, which is $0.10/mg and $2.50/capsule.

While the upfront cost is a little higher than some other brands offering a similar product (i.e., CBDistillery), this is still a reasonable price considering both price per mg and price per capsule.

 

Packaging

The packaging for the 25mg capsules is a plastic bottle and lid.

The lid was wrapped in plastic while a safety seal was underneath the cap, both of which were not difficult to remove.

Charlotte’s Web sports a professional and attractive label that contains supplement facts, an ingredients list, and suggested use information.

Batch information and the expiration date are printed on the bottom of the bottle.

The capsules themselves are like any other capsule and contain liquid.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients in the 25mg capsules: Hemp Extract, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and Vegetable Capsule (Hypromellose).

These are straightforward capsules with basic ingredients that are commonly found in capsules across the market.

Flavor

As expected, we did not notice any flavor or scent.

Effectiveness

We took one or two capsules at a time once or twice per day for a couple of weeks.

The most noticeable effect was they seemed to help support recovery from exercise-induced inflammation.*

We felt less sore within a couple of hours of taking the capsules.

Most team members said taking two capsules at one time was most helpful.
