Welcome to our PlusCBD™ Oil gummies review!

This year, we’ve tested four gummies from PlusCBD Oil: the 10mg/60ct Cherry Mango and Citrus Punch Extra Strength Gummies, and their newer 10mg/30ct Sleep and Calm formulations.

Gummies are now rivaling traditional CBD oil tinctures as a convenient, effective, and enjoyable way to get your daily CBD in, a trend the market has responded to with gusto.

As competition increases, we’re seeing more powerful extracts with cleaner ingredients, more competitive prices, and an ever-growing spectrum of flavors and formulations – as was  the case with all of PlusCBD Oil’s gummies.

Here’s everything we learned from our experience with these products.

PlusCBD Oil Calm Gummies

Concentration

300mg: 10mg/gummy x 30

Price

$29.99 ($0.10/mg)

Ingredients

L-theanine, 5-HTP, hemp extract (aerial plant parts), organic cane sugar, organic tapioca syrup, purified water, citric acid, pectin, natural flavors, medium-chain triglycerides, lycopene (color).

Concentration

As mentioned, the Sleep and Calm gummies come in 30-count containers of 10mg gummies, totaling 300mg of CBD each, and both flavors of the Extra Strength Gummies come in either 10mg/30ct containers or 10mg/60ct containers (we sampled the larger 600mg order in both flavors.)

In all cases, this is a fairly low concentration of CBD per gummy, but taking two or three isn’t the end of the world when the price is competitive (more on that below).

Here is the per-gummy cannabinoid breakdown according to the COA for our PlusCBD™ Oil Calm gummies:

  • CBD – 11.28mg
  • CBDV – 0.06mg
  • CBG – 0.01mg
  • Delta-9 THC – 0.06mg
  • CBD – 0.19mg
  • Total cannabinoids – 11.65mg, THC by mass – 0.0015%

And here is the same data for the Sleep gummies COA, also in per-piece quantities:

  • CBD – 10.61mg
  • CBDV – 0.06mg
  • CBG – 0.01mg
  • Delta-9 THC – 0.05mg
  • CBC – 0.18mg
  • Total cannabinoids – 10.97mg, THC by mass 0.0014%

The total amount of non-CBD cannabinoids is very similar in both cases (around 0.35mg).

According to the certificate of analysis for our Cherry Mango gummies, there were 11.73mg of CBD per gummy and a total of 0.49mg of CBDV (cannabidivarin), CBG (cannabigerol), CBN (cannabinol), delta-9 THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), and CBD (cannabichromene) per gummy.

These Extra Strength Gummies are infused with PlusCBD Oil’s Gold Formula, which is the first-ever self-affirmed Generally Recognized as Safe full-spectrum hemp extract.

Though we often see higher supporting cannabinoid densities, these products contain natural extracts, terpenes, and other non-cannabinoid ingredients that may boost their effects.

In all cases, CBD is over-delivered and the THC is well below the 0.3% limit as federally mandated.

Value

Both the Sleep and the Calm gummies retail for $29.99, which breaks down to just under $0.10/mg.

For the 60ct, 10mg/gummy option of the Extra Strength Formula (both flavors are priced the same), Plus CBD Oil charges $44.99, which comes out to a fairly modest $0.075/mg.

The cheapest gummies among high-quality brands are closer to $0.04-$0.05/mg, but considering PlusCBD™ Oil’s reputation and the targeted formulations, we still consider these Calm and Sleep gummies to be a decent value.

If PlusCBD™ Oil decides to add 60-count jars for their Sleep and Calm gummies, as they did with their Extra Strength gummies, we will hopefully see the per-milligram price for these newer products drop to or below $0.08/mg.

Packaging

All of these products come in very similar darkly tinted containers with black, threaded lids.

The labels provide basic product information, supplement facts and ingredients, warnings, a short blurb about CV Sciences, and a QR code for scanning certificates of analysis.

Everything we needed was there, the added blurb about CV Sciences is great for newcomers to the brand, and the lids/containers held up throughout our use of the products.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredient lists for both CBD gummy products we reviewed:

Calm: L-theanine, 5-HTP, hemp extract (aerial plant parts), organic cane sugar, organic tapioca syrup, purified water, citric acid, pectin, natural flavors, medium-chain triglycerides, lycopene (color).

Sleep: Magnolia extract, lemon balm extract (aerial parts), hemp extract (aerial plant parts), melatonin, organic cane sugar, organic tapioca syrup, purified water, citric acid, pectin, natural flavors, sodium citrate, medium-chain triglycerides, lycopene (color).

Extra Strength (Cherry Mango): Hemp extract (aerial plant parts), organic turbinado sugar, organic tapioca syrup, purified water, citrus pectin, citric acid, malic acid, natural flavor, beet root color.

Extra Strength: (Citrus Punch): Hemp extract (aerial plant parts), organic turbinado sugar, organic tapioca syrup, purified water, citrus pectin, citric acid, malic acid, natural flavor, natural color.

As mentioned, the use of L-theanine, magnolia extract, melatonin, and other enhancers in the newly added Calm and Sleep gummies brings another layer of quality and effectiveness to these formulations.

Also, we see natural coloring and organic sugar, and the sugar content is two milligrams per gummy, which is reasonable.

Overall, these ingredient lists are very impressive, making up for the slightly underwhelming non-CBD cannabinoid content.

Taste

The Calm gummies come in strawberry lemonade, and the Sleep gummies come in raspberry.

As we hoped, you can actually taste the strawberry and raspberry, and real cane sugar is always better than high-fructose corn syrup.

The Calm gummies were more effective at covering up the bitter hemp flavor, but both products were very tasty.

As for the Extra Strength flavors, we preferred the Cherry Mango over the Citrus Punch, but for purely subjective reasons; they were both also very tasty and equally adept at covering up the hemp taste.

Effectiveness

Starting with the Extra Strength first, taking one gummy at a time did not produce noticeable results in any of the areas we were measuring, including pain/discomfort, relaxation, and sleep.

However, taking two or three gummies at a time did make a difference in mood regulation as well as sleep quality.

We were able to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer after taking at least two gummies in the evening.

Taking PlusCBD Oil Gummies in the morning also helped us to remain calm and focused throughout the day.

The results weren’t as striking in the area of pain and discomfort, but that may be because we’re not dealing with post-operative pain, chronic pain disorders, and other problems that many CBD takers have to contend with.

PlusCBD Sleep and Calm Gummies Effectiveness

Sleep formulations tend to be hit or miss in the CBD world—at least in our experience—but the PlusCBD™ Oil Sleep gummies were definitely effective.

Within an hour of taking 2-3 gummies, we were able to fall asleep much faster, and we didn’t feel as sluggish when responding to the morning alarm.

It took three or four of the Calm gummies to notice any effects, but on our first time upping the dosage to four, we felt more confident to take on normally stressful tasks like grocery shopping with toddlers instead of waiting for a chance to go alone.

This is what a calming formulation should feel like in the CBD world—something that manifests itself in how you react to the world around you, not a forced feeling of sedation.

Overall, we can fairly say that the Sleep gummies were highly effective and the Calm gummies were moderately effective.

Pros & Cons

Let’s start with the pros:

  • Competitively priced
  • Balanced, enriched formulations
  • High-quality hemp
  • High testing standards
  • Effective at improving sleep, mood, and some discomfort

And now for the cons:

  • Low concentration
  • Sleep gummies: somewhat bitter aftertaste

Conclusion

All above considerations accounted for, these Plus CBD Oil gummies landed in the upper tier of CBD gummies we’ve reviewed for several reasons.

They’re effective, fairly priced, easy to use, and most importantly, they’re from a company that takes safety and quality very seriously.

We recommend these PlusCBD™ Oil Calm, Sleep, and Extra Strength gummies to anyone looking for a restful day or night.

About PlusCBD™ Oil

From the planting stage and on, PlusCBD™ Oil’s parent company—CV Sciences—has an active role in ensuring high accountability and quality.

CV Sciences uses EU-certified hemp seeds to grow their hemp in Holland, which is known for its sustainable and clean approach to agriculture.

Once the hemp is sent back to the US, PlusCBD™ Oil extracts the oil using CO2, which is widely regarded as the cleanest and safest extraction method because it leaves behind very small amounts of the harmless solvent.

Every batch of product is tested for cannabinoid potency, residual solvents, heavy metals, and microbes by DB Labs, an ISO-accredited third-party lab.

Customers can conveniently access lab reports (a.k.a. certificates of analysis or COAs) using QR codes on packaging.
