For our Select CBD patches review, we tested the 20mg patches. CBD patches are relatively new to the CBD marketplace, and few brands provide them. Select CBD, a lifestyle company primarily known for making products with a luxurious feel, has created a high-quality patch that comes in two different CBD concentrations. As far as the benefits go, we were a little disappointed, but also confident that the 60mg patches are more effective.
Here are some highlights from the patches:

Select CBD Patches Review
For our Select CBD patches review, we tested the 20mg, three-pack of patches.
The patches are infused with CBD isolate, which tests at zero percent THC.
We review CBD patches by the quality of their hemp material, CBD concentration, product packaging, ingredients, effectiveness, and value.
Let’s start with the quality of the hemp extract in Select CBD’s patches.

Select CBD Hemp Quality
Select CBD creates its products with hemp grown from Oregon farms, which are licensed and regulated by the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
The oil is extracted using ethanol, a common solvent used in extraction.
After the oil is extracted, it is distilled and purified to remove both THC and any remaining solvent.
Select CBD has each batch of their products tested by third-party laboratories, including Pixis Labs and Lightscale Labs, for cannabinoid potency, pesticides, residual solvents, heavy metals, and microbes.
These labs are accredited by the Oregon Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ORELAP).
You access the third-party results from these directly on Select CBD’s website here.
Select CBD often includes the cannabinoid potency of their products on the packaging.
Every patch contains 20mg of CBD isolate that is gradually released over 24 hours.
The patches use transdermal technology to permeate the skin and allow CBD to enter the bloodstream.
Few brands have developed patches since the transdermal technology is relatively new to the CBD industry.
With this in mind, we have some grace for Select CBD, because the concentration seems too low to be as effective as other forms of CBD.
Part of the issue may also be that Select CBD uses CBD isolate instead of full-spectrum hemp extract, which is often believed to be more potent.
Select CBD does offer a much stronger 60mg version that we believe could be useful.
However, other customers could find 20mg beneficial, especially if they are just beginning with CBD.
A single-pack of Select CBD Patches is priced at $8.99, which comes out to $0.450/mg.
The three-pack sells for $23.99, clocking in at $0.400/mg and $8.000/patch.
While customers are primarily paying for convenience and the transdermal technology, $24 is somewhat high for essentially three days worth of CBD.
With prices this high, it does not seem that patches will supplant more traditional methods of taking CBD (e.g., tinctures, capsules, vape pens, etc.) for a while.
However, the value of having patches on hand for days when you need CBD discreetly cannot be understated.
Hopefully, more brands will produce CBD patches in the near future to drive prices down.
In comparison with the 20mg patches, Select CBD’s single-pack of 60mg patches cost $15.99 ($0.267/mg), while the three-pack retails for $39.99 ($0.222/mg).
The three-pack of 20mg Select CBD patches come in a box containing individual packets with the patches inside.
Unfortunately, Select CBD did not have cannabinoid potency results on this box like it does with other products; however, the box does come with a batch number.
Inside the packets, you will find the patch, two alcohol swabs, and a small card providing directions on how to apply the patch.
The patch itself is 2.5” x 2”, thick, and has a light skin-toned color.
According to the packaging, and confirmed by our testing (i.e., surviving a shower and workout), the patch is water-resistant and sweatproof.
You’ll learn how to use the patch in the next section.
Applying the Patch
Applying the patch is a simple process.
First, use the alcohol swabs to clean the skin where you intend to put the patch on.
Ideally, this should be a hairless and venous spot on the body, like the wrist or forearm.
If you want a more discreet location, the top of your foot would also work.
Once you’ve cleaned the area, remove the protective backing from the patch, and apply it to the skin.
Press down firmly for about 30 seconds to make sure it stays on.
The patch should stay on with no problem after that.
We took showers, washed our hands, and slept with it on without it falling off.
The directions warn that removing the patch can be painful, but if you use it for the full 24 hours as intended, we experienced little to no pain when we removed it.
Ingredients in Select CBD’s patches include: Polymer Blend and CBD Hemp Extract.
While this is the extent of the information we have on the transdermal technology, research shows that this route of administration has one of the highest bioavailability rates.
According to a study from 2010 by researchers at the University of Kentucky, transdermal applications for CBD seem to have a bioavailability of around 40 percent.
We tested the Select CBD patches for its effects on energy, discomfort, relaxation, and sleep.
Here are our results for the patches:
This was the only category where we noticed any consistent benefits.
Teammates reported feeling calm and in a better mood than without CBD.
The patches may have also helped slightly with sleep.
Benefits were slightly increased when we used two patches at the same time.
With that information in mind, we believe the 60mg option will provide benefits that are more typical of other forms of CBD.
Pros & Cons
Pros for the Select CBD patches:
- Quality design
- Water-proof, durable
- Convenient, non-invasive
Cons for the Select CBD patches:
- Low concentration
- High price
- Minimal benefits
In our review of Select CBD’s patches, our team was impressed with the high-quality design but were a bit disappointed with their efficacy.
We did experience some noticeable benefits when using two patches and getting 40mg of CBD.
However, needing to use two patches at the same time is far too costly; thus, the 60mg patches are a more cost-efficient and effective option.
While we are not fans of the 20mg patch, we can recommend that customers interested in patches should try Select CBD’s 60mg patch option.
